Garuda Indonesia has introduced a new "economy basic" subclass to increase is competitiveness.
The national flag carrier's domestic commercial director, Nina Sulistyowati, said the service would be available on short-haul flights to meet the demand of economy class passengers who preferred a "value for money" travel concept.
"We started to provide economy basic on May 21 for flights to Medan, Palembang, Pontiana k, Balikpapan and Ujung Pandang," said Nina in a statement on Monday.

Customers are able to purchase economy basic tickets on Garuda Indonesia's mobile app and website, as well as through the carrier's ticketing sales office. (kes)
